Livingstone Set to Become Zambia’s New Sports Capital – Government Confirms Bold Move!

The Zambian government is making tangible progress toward establishing a state-of-the-art multi-sport facility in Livingstone, according to the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts.

Speaking to the media during a visit to the tourist capital today, Permanent Secretary Fumba Chama confirmed that the project is steadily gaining momentum. He revealed that the ministry has already been allocated land for the development, marking a major step forward in bringing the vision to life.

“Land allocation has been completed and site inspections have been carried out,” said Mr. Chama. “We are now in talks with various investors who have expressed a strong interest in being part of this transformative initiative.”

The Permanent Secretary emphasized the government’s commitment to fostering partnerships with the private sector, noting that collaboration is key to ensuring the success and sustainability of the facility. He added that once discussions reach a critical phase, a formal announcement will be made by the minister to outline the way forward.

The proposed multi-sport complex is expected to boost sports development in the Southern Province and provide a much-needed hub for youth engagement, talent development, and community wellness.

Livingstone, known primarily for its tourism appeal, could soon become a sporting hub as well—ushering in a new era of opportunity for aspiring athletes and sports enthusiasts across Zambia.
